The Rosé
Phyllis (1925-2012)
I smiled on the inside when Don and Johanna first mentioned their idea of naming iOTA’s Rosé in honor of my Mom. That was early March, and she had just passed on February 19th. Yes, it was perfect. Phyllis was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. How appropriate that the grapes used to make this limited release Rosé came from Yiayia block, named for my mother-in-law, Dimitra. Yiayia, in Greek, means grandmother.
The wine is vibrant in color. The label is simple, classic, elegant. Phyllis was a vibrant woman who lit up a room with her sweet personality and bright-colored fashion. She loved a simple life and had a classic, elegant sense of style. She loved nature, taking walks, observing birds and wildlife at her homes in Florida and Canada, among many other things.
So raise a glass and toast “Phyllis”, my Mom, when you enjoy your Rosé. We will miss her energy and fun-loving ways very much.
With love,
Lynne

2011 provided us a bountiful harvest with record-weight clusters comprised of small berries. Always striving for the best possible quality for our single vineyard pinot noir release each vintage, our first commercial Rosé under the iOTA label was crafted with a similar commitment and attention to detail. Specific rows of our Yiayia block Pommard were hand-selected and the wine spent eight months in neutral, French oak barrels to add body and complexity. The result is a beautiful offering: a salmon-colored rosé with notes of grapefruit, citrus, banana, fresh strawberries and hints of herb. Only seventy-five cases produced and available direct from our winery to you—$18/bottle.Impressions
