So warm, rich and mouth-coating, saturated in baked apples, poached pears, melted butter and vanilla beans. Rather full-bodied, creamy in texture, concentrated and long on the finish.

It feels as pale as lemonade, with scents of citrus, apple and salt, along with a fruit-blossom bitterness. Its flavors are more substantial, the mineral notes contributing finesse to the texture, and a pleasing grip on the finish.

Bright and spicy, pungent and loaded with flavors of white peach, lemon rind and pineapple sage, this is a complex and nicely layered wine with the structure to improve. Barrel fermented in half new French oak, it finishes with a touch of toast.

This might be enjoyed as a tribute to a new and important style of Oregon Chardonnay—leesy, textured, low in alcohol and rich in flavor. It was barrel fermented and aged 10 months in oak, none new, but presumably some once-used as there is a pleasant trailing note of caramel.

Eye: Clear, medium gold color with a pale edge.
Nose: Medium plus intensity, aromas of underripe pears and floral notes of gardenia.
Mouth: Medium body with lively acidity and a nice persistent finish. A touch of oak is there, but it’s just a hint. A beautifully done Oregon Chardonnay, nice and lean with lots of tension. We can’t wait for the estate version in the coming years.
