New vineyard block coming in 2014

Exciting news from PSV... after 8 years of catching our breath, we will be planting two new vineyard blocks in 2014. This will bring our acreage up to 15. Block 8 will be 2 acres of pinot noir and block 7 will be 1.5 acres of our first chardonnay. Here are some photos of the first steps. More to come!

2013 Shoot thinning

Our vineyard crew is doing plenty of "shoot thinning" this week. To prevent a crowded canopy, every vine has a grooming to remove excessive shoots . This will help keep the plant healthier and more manageable too!

I found this great poster of local vineyard soils on FB. Our Pommard clone at PSV is grown in Yamhill soil. We also have a range of other sedimentary and volcanic soils that add complexity to our wines.
