The crew recently pruned vines in our oldest blocks-Yiayia, Pappou, Abino Hill and Ana. This officially marks the start of our 2008 season! “Brush pull” took place the following day as the cut canes were neatly placed in rows. The canes will be “flail mowed” (cut into smaller pieces) later this season and disked into the ground to provide organic material for the soil. Last step, the canes remaining on the plants will be tied to the fruiting wire in anticipation of bud break. This usually occurs in April, weather depending. We’ll keep you posted!
